Punjabi wedding!

1 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
I'm finding it hard to blog these days. Even if it meant writing about the super duper surprised filled best birthday ever! But later on that. The current sizzling event was my lovely friend's wedding :D
And we all know how much fun weddings are!

I have usually attended only marwadi weddings. So being in a Punjabi wedding was a different experience altogether. And I must mention..I am totally in love with Punjabis. Extremely friendly & jolly people plus very  good looking :P
I have learned to speak a little Punjabi too and its fun!

I am gonna miss my friend a lot! Statically she's the one with I have probably had the most fights with but sometimes you share such an amazing bond with some people.. that despite all the run downs..your friendship remains intact and only grows with time! Moreover when a friend gets married and goes away..you realize their importance to no end. :/ :(

I still can't believe Luvza is married! I mean hello ?! It all happened a bit too fast. And since the time she got engaged ( 4 months back ) we've all been wayyy too excited for her wedding :D

While the bride was mostly busy applying and removing makeup,  we friends enjoyed with the family.
And ofcourse the eye candies around us :P
Its so weird the bride and groom are the ones that are tired the most.. I mean the ones getting married should be given a chance to enjoy it :P

I am not a photo person. As in I usually refrain form putting pictures on blog , albums on fb etc.
But this is a major event of my life. And given to my lack of writing - I will just let the pictures speak a thousand words ;)

Yaaaaa dude!

0 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
All I needed was a vacation!

How about with free food , free dj party , free accommodation and a bunch of funny crazy people ?!
Add to it - the venue being GOA!
Perfect!!

I don't have the right words..I have no words infact to write about the most awesome wedding I've been to. Maybe I'm not very sure how I feel about the whole thing. Its weird that I don't feel weird.
( About being back home after having an amazing time and not crying over for missing everything*)

This time in points -

  • Made new friends. Absolutely fantastic people!
  • Danced ( ofcourse) thrice! :  Sufi night. Sangeet night  and pool party
  • Sangeet or DJ night was 'Desi Sunburn' as brat put it. Have never danced so much with live singers. 3 Indian Idol finalist. They sang amazing and the tracks they choose made us all unstopabble. Every time we'd think this is so tiring and now must get off the stage..another kickass track would be played! Freaking awesome.
  • Pool party in a madu wedding is very modern I must say. Lol ..quite questionable. But it was again so much fun! They arranged for rain dance as well. Sexy!
  • The bride was my cousin.Someone I was very close to. But then things change no ? There's still something special about old friendships. All it needs is unison. And I have no opinions what so ever.  Just enjoyed being there. It was her wedding afterall !!
  • The last night of the 3 day wedding..we stayed awake the whole freaking night! Hukah and daru party. One of her friends got so high..she danced alone for an hour. Lol but she is definitely the best dancer I've seen. Totally enjoying to the core and god knows where on earth does she come up with so many different steps!
  • I was the only person who did not cry during vidaaai. I didn't cry even on bubble's wedding. I still don't know why. I mean the whole thing is freaking sentimental plus there was background music to it with dhol and vidaai song. It still didn't hit me. All her friends were sobbing. I was blank.
  • All of us cousins are very cool. And by cool I mean shameless. There's no limit set to cracking non veg jokes. And then since there were also her 'friends' ..there was absolutely no limit. With all the flirting and link ups there were added double meaning comments. Holy shit! Cheesy allright. But funny at the same time.Ridiculous I'd rather say.
  • Before the wedding we all indulged in rigorous dance practice for sangeet. That was another 3 days of full on masti!  With hukah sessions every now and then ;)
  • Everybody vouches on Brat's chammak challo steps ! :D
  • K  played my cousin and she is a damn good dancer herself. G as usual was the lead guy.I was the side dancer. I don't like that. lol but I held onto my grumblings. *pats self*
  • Food : 5-star hotels have their own receipes. You generally don't end up liking the usual dishes. But for the continental specially mexican and thai food - it was deliciously delectable along with dulcet desserts!
  • To sum up it was one hell of a  heavenly week! :D Mind blowing fun! Too many memories and jokes to rest upon.
* Now the usual custom is that whenever I spend time with my maternal cousins which is like once in a year and come back to my homeplace - I sob like a kid. I start feeling the vacuum much before I'm to bid goodbye to everyone.
This time it was different. Strange. I didn't get the jitters. I was hardly over -conscious of the fact that I was leaving and that its probably going to be another year before I see everyone.
That odd sick moment hit me only for a second when brat  left a night before we all departed. And thats that.
I surprised myself. How much can I empty myself out , afterall ? :)

I've spent a very very good time that I'll always cherish. I have my own grudges for certain things. But it allright. Its like a peck of dust I'm flicking away. Doesn't stand anywhere against the glitterati.

Btw how could I not mention some of our own 'phrases'
Two of my cousins - Ak and Brat have this habit of saying 'Ya dude' all the time. The 'ya' is pronounced with a jolt. lol
And then Ok is Oooooookaaayyy.
We tease brat - ' wtf man wtf!'  He uses the F word like an article.
Ak cracks the most silliest jokes ever. Whatever it may be..the fact is everybody giggles. So I guess it works. :D

I'm the usual photographer. I make sure I click as much I can. But this time with three SLRs there wasn't much scope left for me :D
I'm waiting for the pictures!
Its killing to be dependent man!
'Man' another word used like a phrase. lol :)

I'd been to bengaluru as well. Superb weather!

Can't bottle it up...

4 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
Getting back to old routine is tough after spending an amazing time that stretched over for two weeks.
To contain all the excitement is even more tough...because it all got over within minutes. And now it all feels like a long long dream.
So yet again..there isn't much that remains for me to jot down.
And even as am angry that I'm unable to convert sundry photographic moments into words , what bothers me more is that - Old life is going to bite me crazy. :x

Summarizing the last few days : I've had a BLAST - dancing , eating , laughing , traveling , and putting on some of my best glad rags.

Its been a roller of a fortnight.None of us aware of time or week day ..and all of us soaked in crazy celebration ;)

It was the best wedding I've attended so far.And the best of best time I've had with all of my family.
A special mention : Sumptuous lip smacking tongue crackling  food.

We put in a lot of effort in making our Sangeet a success and thankfully it paid off ;)

Its indescribable..of how much I have enjoyed.
Letting the tiredness wear off.
Will be back with a bang.

I'll probably know all the ceremonies by heart

5 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
My brother ( first cousin ) got engaged! Everyone's extremely happy :) We all have been excitingly looking forward for his marriage since he is the eldest in our generation.
The wedding's only a month away.We all are busy deciding songs & theme for the Sangeet and desperately finding a good choreographer.

Yesterday I went over to my sisters' place to finalize all of these things.Instead we ended up putting on random songs and danced like maniacs (monkeys).Hopping , laughing , teasing - we happened to keep a dance competetion & made the younger sister - the judge.I won the monkey dancing competetion :P

Another cousin of mine from maternal family got engaged today!! And I might attend her wedding if I don't have any of my exams clashing.Actually I really do wish to go for her wedding whenever it'll be.Its a nice excuse to spend super fun time with cousins :D

Oh and did I mention that this relative of mine..who basically belongs to my grand mom's family is going to get married in November :P His wedding would be in Jaipur and I want to go there as well :D I have met the one who's getting married...so its not like I would end up attending weddings just for the heck of it :P
My grand mom's family is huge.I haven't met half of them and haven't seen the other half since ages.It would be nice to get to know all.

Wow.Its going to be a full on wedding year.My plate's full :)

We marwaris have a number of functions and ceremonies.
I think by the end of the year I'll be well versed with each of those :P

Things have changed...

5 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
Because we all have grown up.

The last time I had spent such a vacation with these bunch of funny idiots was when brat , Nik and Ankit were of my height. Now all three of them are at least 5 feet 8 inch tall. And I'm still 5'1 :|
That's the most basic difference with which I can relate to the two phases.

A lot of things have changed during these few years.I'm having trouble absorbing it.
To begin with  - Bubble is married. It still hasn't sunk in.

The wedding was superb but the food wasn't.That minimizes the length of this post as I cannot stick to the description of one of the most important elements of wedding ( the food - in case you don't get it ).I feel bad that I couldn't come online and write to my heart's content about the  excitement and mention the scandalous episodes. As of now , most of it has evaporated from my head.So , I'm not left with much to talk about , which is really sad :(

What is worth mentioning is the DJ party we had two nights before the marriage. It was the most awesome dj night I've had.Amazing tracks played over not making us stand still even for a second.
I absolutely loved the way Brat danced! :)
The guys in our family were hitting on the girls from the groom's side :D Its funny given that few of them are already dating. ;)

My stomach dropped during the vidaai ceremony.I didn't cry because I was groggy and also because this particular ritual never makes sense to me.But to be there when every else is crying and the bride is so red-eyed...kind of makes you feel sick.

After the wedding , I extended my stay for more than a week.
We had in- house parties..which was crazy.
We went go carting after ages.
I went shopping -  after ages.
Worth mentioning - the Oreo shake at mochas. Its one of the best things of my trip.
We had silly discussions on nonsense topics which were hilarious.
The guys danced like maniacs.
It seems I wore the best sari.Got compliments for my outfit from EVERY ONE.I'm not exaggerating.
got a tan :( went swimming in scorching sun at uncle's farmhouse just 2 days before the wedding. The tan spoiled my mood for the rest of the days.I hate the pictures.Mine.

Away from the may madness...I spent a supercool time with my maternal family.
When everyone left , I cried.Felt like a fool for doing the same because nobody else was crying :|
That's exactly how sentimental  I am despite strongly resisting any display of my vulnerable side.

I had wished to scribble about all those things that have changed amongst us only to get it all out of my system but I'm already over it.I didn't even think much about it.That's majorly because I didn't have the time to think.I managed to live each moment instead of interpreting and analyzing.

Bitter sweet juggle of emotions.
Folds of difference.
Varied opinions.
Things may have changed.
The magic remains.

P2 : Enjoyed so much today
me : All because of my presence.
P2 : oh yeah..- giving a go fly a kite look-

P2 : I never eat so much in weddings.

In fact .. love to tease just anyone that I can :D
Honestly am good at it - At least with those ..jinki mai rag rag se wakhif hoon :D

Yeah am flashing my teeth far too much. Can't help it..Really happy :D
Spending time with my two most lovable sisters makes me go on a roll.
And thankfully my birthday wasn't a disaster either.
And ..of course ..more weddings coming up.Great food basically :D

Tu Jaane Na...

7 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
How could I miss mentioning this song ?? Its awesome! Also , its been pictured BEAUTIFULLY!

Its been shot in Turkey. The feel of the song increases ten folds with the video. Now this is the kind of thing I call 'superb' - Amazing choice of location , great angels ..a goddess like actress (Katrina Kaif looks gorgeous as always..but the point I wanted to make is that her outfit in the song is equally gorgeous :P ) , a smoking hot actor + a heart-tugging soul stirring song.
What more can you ask for a visual treat ?!

Kaise batayein..
Kyon tujhko chahein

Yaara bata na payee..

Batein dilo ki
dekho jo baki

ankhein tujhe samjhaye..

Tu Jaane Na..

The song has a Sufi touch to it , making it my fav.The lyrics are good too :)
And of course , I have resumed liking listening to Atif Aslam.

** Bubble got engaged.I'm so excited for her.No I guess I'm just excited about having another wedding in family :D Its gonna be a lot of fun!
I wish though..I could attend the luncheon party tomorrow.I really wanted to be there for her.
Don't wanna get melo dramatic. She doesn't need me at the moment. Nobody on earth who's just engaged needs anyone in their life till the craze settles to normality :P But she certainly wants me there!! I'm the first one to whom she broke the news of her engagement.

Argh! I feel a little bad.I've been extremely mean to her.And here..during the most happiest moment of her life - she's been cajoling me to no end to come down when she sld have actually spent that time in deciding what she has to wear :P
I thought I could make up for at least one of those mean times by attending the small function tomorrow. But I cannot go.Crap crap crap!
Just wishing I turn up for the formal engagement ceremony and of course the wedding!

I still cannot believe the girl who's been getting wedding proposals since she was 15 -is finally getting married!! :D On a funny note - I wonder what ppl are left to talk about , now that miss cynosure is going to tie the knot :P
Ankey's already getting the jitters."Its my no. after hers..damn!" haha! I couldn't stop laughing when she texted that.

And although I had unofficially taken an oath that I'm never going to dance on stage - I've decided to put that resolution on hold. I don't mind making a fool of myself again - its Bubble's wedding afterall.

My jeeju is very handsome , I heard.Bubble deserved someone very good looking as it is and everything else too seems to have fallen into place.Perfect!
Bubble gum! Congratulations ..very happy for you !

A week & few seconds

3 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
I've had the most wonderful time this week.It was my cousin's wedding at Mahableshwar & I came down to Pune 4 days prior to the wedding for the dance practice. Our dance was a hug success ..the bride's side family was in awe of our performance!
Speciality was the pirography done - those fire effects! Fantastic it was!

The wedding was superb. The entire week passed by so quickly that it feels like I was there just few seconds back.
Wasn't I trying to set my hair ?
Wasn't I just practicing our dance ?
Wasn't I just having dinner with them all?!
Wasn't I crazily laughing with Rach & Nik that they thought I was drunk!!!??
I was right there ! How am I here now ?? :(
How come it all passed so damn fast that I clnd't even breathe through them ??!

That particular half an hour I'm never going to forget is where I was laughing like a lunatic!! It was so hilarious w/o even a joke being cracked!! I laughed so much that my stomach started paining! lol lol...pleaseeee..where did you guys go haan?? time time , come back to me! :))

The bride looked gorgeous! This time I roughly attended all the functions & no matter what , marwari weddings are the BEST!!!
From how we snatched the groom's 'jooti' THRICE to how we chuckled over the fact how one of the bride's cousins was hitting on one my cousin , G'rav! Fun wasn't it ?!?! ask me!!!

My clothes were fairly nice but envy had to have its share.Ankey wore beautiful beautiful beautiful clothes!! Every jewellery that she wore was sparkling & so damn beautiful. It was her bro's wedding , she had to have the best of the lot :))

For the first time in my life I bought such pencil thin high heels & wore them for more than 3 hrs. That was a painful experience! My knee & ankle made me tired. I wore those heels even the night we danced & one of those kids jumped upon my feet removing the strap.I had to get the bloody sandal fixed , so we went to the market which was so bloody nostalgic minus the hep crowd ..:P
i've spent a lot of my summers in mahableshwar. We used to hang around in market for hours , shop even after we'd drop , play games , go go-carting , boating & reach back to my uncle's farmhouse which he has sold now . Sad :(

So coming back to market was great. We were running out of time & just had to find a cobbler , but then the shopaholics we are , cldn't stop ourselves from checking out the stuff. The footwear collection out there is always great as of what I recollected. But the kid within us had other plans - games!!! Spent some 50 bucks & lost it all in 50 seconds :P Those games are highly addictive! There was this one where you had to select a letter out of 5 letters. So Nik put 4 coins & chose 4 letters. He then pressed the button & bang on - the letter he did not select was the output, lol. And well it could have gotten him earn 50 coins i.e 50 bucks back.I really don't have to talk of Murphy's Laws. Those machines are fucking fixed.Oh and of course , my sandal was fixed too with its sole missing that had me people warning me of slipping off.True but much to their disappointment , I did not slip even once but was on the verge of it a dozen times which made Rach laugh like crazzzyyy! loll ! You can actually imagine how funny that would look.

Then we had to help Nik choose a gift for his gf & Rach suggested a purse /bag .Bought it in 5 mins & I bought another one in next 5 seconds :P . Went rolling back to our hotel.Had to get ready in flat 30 mins.Rach & me ?? Never!! Took more than an hour :P lol
My hair didn't settle at all.I was so cheesed off! But Rach kept telling me that it was just fine.Oh Yeah , look at the pics & tell me! :( grrr

It rained during the reception so everything had to be shifted to the hall. And when all was done , it stopped raining! Irony & good things walk hand-in hand ;)
The food all these days was just Ok . One of the evenings , we had cheese balls which was extremely good!
A dedication to all my cuz -
* G'rav you were GREAT! Danced so well dude! Your expressions , your moves , your body language - superb! Love you sweetheart!!
What I love more about him is that he hasn't put on an ounce of fake Brit accent after staying in London for more than an year.Surprisingly refreshing
*Nik- You make me laugh , you are great already ;) Had fun boy!
*Rach - Thanks for tolerating me girl! :P
*Anki- my sweetie pie , love you ! You still have all the attitude on the earth & I ain't complaining anyway :P
And all the others , mwah mwah! Flying kisses with love from Doll ;)

The settings done for the first night of the couple was fun! With papad & shampoo on their bed , blankets missing , power off , flowers everywhere & a stove kept on the couch just to scare them off ;) loll
Getting over the cheesy side of it was all kind of vulgar stuff written over the mirror along with sketches! Funny & somehow must be embarrassing for the newly wed couple to get that kind of shock from their own cousins/relatives.

I can write pages over pages about this one superb week I've spent.I think I'll write more when I remember more great things ;)
Latest to my nicks - Dollchini , lol! G'rav calls me that.

Season of weddings

3 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
Went to a schoolmate's brother's wedding reception yesterday.Except the food , everything bout the evening was great!
My outfit was good.I didn't wear something totally off-beat & weird this time.Thank God!

Caught up with school friends. One of them said , " You are looking different."
These days whenever someone says to me that 'you've changed' or 'you are looking different' , I feel tempted to ask if its for the good or bad ! Specially after this episode.
Good is what I got in reply.
I felt great after hearing that! In fact , even before moving out of the house , I looked myself into the mirror for an unusually long time & really did say to myself - Good! :P

I've always felt a little left out as far as looks are concerned because I've always had gorgeous friends & cousins too.I don't think of myself as 'bad looking'.I'm just not that much pretty.
But yesterday , I could compliment myself GOOD! :P

Ok the food..there were so many dishes that I had to plan out what to eat & what no to.When I decided what to eat - I had to plan the quantity of dish-intake :P
We first had the meal which was good.Moved onto snacks.Nothing interesting.Switched to some sweets.Nothing of that tasted sweet.I doubted if my taste-buds are on vacation.
Desert- YUCK! Two flavors from Naturals ( Mumbai famous ) & THAT was yuck ?? huh ? Sad!

I had fun last evening. Not the extreme kind of fun , but was happy being there.
And as always , my cousins & I had to discuss chartered accountancy, lol.
Shaadi mein bhi woh topic nahi chorte yaar ?! :S

I've been jobless for past couple of weeks.Maybe even months. No classes & No office.
This is my 7th post this month making me the Goddess of the Jobless!

Sizzling & sliced

3 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
Sizzling - I had a great time!
Sliced - Few dark feelings ..terrible I must say

Went to a cousin's wedding which was at Lonawala.
For starters , half the people couldn't recognize me.I met most of them after a span of almost 2 years. They were like "Ohh you are.....". At first I thought maybe I'm looking better than ever before.Few hours later I realized I'm looking awful than any any anytime before!! >> My granddad couldn't recognize me! And yes , got some mixed responses regarding my weight.
Anki - " You are looking thinner" ( Whom I'd met just few months back )
Bubble - "Omg!!! Your cheeks !!" I know I know I know..my chubby cheeks !
Xyz relative -" I was wondering who you are...whats the secret behind putting on ?" SECRET? Did you just say secret ?!!?
Anki's bro - " Haven't you put on a little?" Everyone started laughing coz by now almost everyone had commented. So he said ," Oh right , maybe I shouldn't have said 'little'." Everyone laughed again.
Grrrrrr. I wanted to go somewhere. No! I wanted to just go running over the treadmill! Or in an easy way , to be just able to pluck the plump out of my face!

Ok now what's with everyone ??! I'm not fat! My cheeks are not just chubby , they often swell which is I suppose a problem related with blood circulation etc etc..& grrrrrrr I was so mad with myself.*
THEN as if this wasn't enough , for spoilers I just realized I'm nowhere close to good at dancing.Or if not that , at least nowhere close to my counterparts*.I mean my cousins are amazing dancers !!
And they all were looking great as well! I was awestruck with the kind of dresses each one of them had donned. Not that I was feeling ill about it , but just just ..just..a little jealous* ..yeah ..Nooo..it was something like ..someone's beating you blue & yet you cannot scream. You cannot hide. You cannot run.The most eligible antidote for it is shopping - super shopping - which at the moment
You
CANNOT
do!
To be a lemon among strawberries is some goddamn task , trust me.
*Three nails by now in the coffin of my passionate-feelings.
[ Looks & body , dance , clothes! ]

Moving over to the sizzling part , the wedding was simple superb! My cousins said they weren't enjoying as much as they did in the 2 weddings prior to this one , which I had missed , but for me this was fun.Probably because I met everyone after a long time & also because it had been years I attended a full blown marwari wedding. And I knew what I fool I was to skip the other 2 weddings.

For the dance , they all kept forcing me to perform , encouraging me & praising me while practicing , but in the end I didn't turn up.I wasn't feeling like dancing solo because my dance wasn't choreographed well. And yes , I'm a sucker for praises & compliments in things I enjoy the most. Not that it matters a lot, but it just matters to me when I'm among my peers.Dancing has always been one of my passions and there was no way I was settling for just a cold smile & few well-arranged-cheers.So I skipped it. Didn't regret at all.
And had a burning desire to reinvent the passion in me.Next time , I told myself.

The food was too good.Specially the lunch on second day which was from the bride's side. There were so many dishes & I thought even if I tasted every single thing , it'll be equivalent to eating the meal. I did not even think twice while taking over the sweet the second time just because it was so mouth-watering.I mean I forgot all the comments about my weight.Cannot compromise on good food ..NEVER.

The first night I was present with them , we took off from the resort at midnight to have hookah :P I know its crazy , but I was wanting to smoke like all my male cousins. But the place was closed down.So we returned & stayed awake till about 4 in morning - chatting , laughing , having fun.
The next day we headed for hookah again during afternoon.I just had 3 or 4 rounds of it.Since we had some time left , we went over for a drive ahead & stationed at a point.Beautiful scenery.
I'm not a good photographer , so no pics this time.

And then on the second & last night we all were together , Rach & I decided that we gonna make everyone stay awake till wee hours in morning & of course to have loads of fun.It was almost 1.30 am by the time all the ceremonies ended. And before we could catch the guys, they had gone to bed.But Rach & I knew how to force people to stay awake :P & so we did! Played cards , joked around , laughed , discussed love-marriages vs. arranged-marriages , careers etc etc.
Finally when there was nothing to talk about - I still wonder how could that be - everyone went to sleep. It was about 5.30 am.And I know how badly I wanted that time never to end.I woke up at 8 since I had to leave early.Again, my heart was pacing with the feeling of going away from everyone after having a wonderful time.
But then , all good things come to an end. Why do they have to anyway ?

What remains are the memories.I'm just too sentimental about these things.I shouldn't be because it hurts when I remember those moments.I did not realize how much am gonna miss them all but once I left them & was alone at home , I couldn't stop myself from crying. That doesn't happen with all of them. Its not a good thing to attach your heart to too many people. And of course , not to the one you are having little feelings for.......

In these two days , I liked someone. Not a crush or falling-in-love but just liked him.And the dark feelings kept crawling nearer to me because I knew I'm not going to get to meet him & to know him more.I had butterflies in my stomach & I hated myself for even imagining of asking him out..lol.How crazy could I be at times ? I told Anki about it.And she was like ' Oh good , nice guy ..should we initiate the talks?' lol ..I said no.I knew she was just kidding but I also knew she wouldn't ever understand what that feeling was & what it meant to me.

The time flew like crazy.I'm back & writing about it now ..checking out the pics twice a day.Feeling very lonely.
Can't wait to be with all of 'em again for the next wedding in April. And boy , how I wish he too comes there :P

Mixed emotions

1 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
My cell phone is dead ! Broke into 2 pieces , although it was already pretty much broken. It didn't quite have any goddamn features anyway.Living without a cellphone doesn't take much.I just cannot reach my friends too easily. They aren't a click away anymore.

My i-pod is paralyzed. Its back- light is dead.So it gets a little pesky to turn it on & much more confusing to select songs. But I had separate folders for the kind of songs I like to listen depending on my mood.So its not getting all that tough to operate my i pod but still its so weird !
Too much for my gadgets this Diwali :|

Mum was mad , as always like always at me ( for again those typical things ) .She decided not to serve dad dinner .So I was like huh , ok why is she doing that when she is mad at ME ?? ...I got my answer pretty soon.
She orders in an annoying tone , " You make the chappatis & serve dad"
No way ?!
What kind of madness is this ??

Ok I can make chappatis pretty well but hello !?!
She was gone. Its just Dad , me & kitchen for now.
The dough was already prepared , thank god ! It took me about half an hour to make 7 chappatis out of which I almost burnt the first 2 , lol. Oh yeah , its been a long time I'm doing that so little errors are fine!!!
Dad , " I had the best dinner in years." A big smile on my face.I know those chappatis weren't all that but my daddy is the best !! :D
"After all you cooked it!" A much more bigger smile. I'm loving it...go on please?
He needn't say anymore. That meant everything to me , already :)
I love you dad !!

I did lots of shopping.Casuals- none.Just bought glad rags which I wonder when I'd be wearing.I think I won't be even wearing one or two things out of them. And yet I bought it just because I loved it so much, lol ;) But I seriously think I got a little too much stuff.I needed more of casual & formal which I didn't buy because I couldn't find any :| ..yeah the jinx yet again! But since I could find other good clothes , would wanna thank mum , my lucky mascot for shopping :)

Walking down the street at bout 9 , I had the most amazing feeling.Felt liberated.Felt happy.Felt energetic.Felt like I was flying.I
Festivity has its own charm. And what more could it be with a cold wind blowing overhead ;)
I love this street at night , specially during this time of the year.Every house is lighted with those little lightings , Coconut trees by its side , The wind - breezy & brisk , Faint noise of the crackers. And me , walking down alone watching & feeling all of these.
In other words - an indescribable enigmatic mojo , all around . I'm loving it !!

3 of my cousins got engaged => 3 weddings => Lots of shopping => Lots of fun => Lots of good food :D => And lots of fun again ! :)
I just hope no exam clashes during any of these weddings.I don't wanna miss even a single moment out of those glittery events.

And those dark hour moments lasted for 3-4 days.I already see dawn with speckles of orange in the clouds.Waiting for broad daylight in life!

Wedding Makers..

4 Cuppa coffeee [comments ]
An uncle came over for lunch a week back.During lunch , he asked me to make something , anything that I could.I thought I should give him options such as tea , coffee because thats all I can really make .But he wouldn't want tea or coffee after lunch .Before I could say anything , he said , " Make me some cold drink. It'll be your test.If you pass , I will start looking for a guy for you !"

I silently asked what ..???? ..although I wanted to scream aloud .He didn't say that ..did he ? Oh yes , I figured out he said exactly what I heard , because he was grinning. That was embarrassing ! The heights is I too was laughing. And I still don't know why ?! huh ! My parents were right there , my mom facing me , dad just next to me & I felt like curling up & hiding somewhere. My parents have never talked about marriage to me.When my mom hints it at times , I look daggers at her & then she doesn't dare to add any more to it. I've mentioned this before that I really really really don't like to talk bout this. And here , look at my uncle ..he's gone all the way up to look for a guy for me !!! Oh c'mon I mean I'm so young + there are a dozen cousins of mine elder to me who are to yet to be married. I'm afraid ( for my uncle ) that half of them are still not at that age , where they could just marry! So wayyyy to go for me!

My family, talking of the larger version of family i.e my mom's side & dad's side & grand mom's side family cannot stop thinking of marriage . And specially my mom's side family.I don't understand why they fancy marriages so much . At every get together , they [ not the uncles , all the aunts ] would talk of who's next & then who's the one after the next one , & again who's the third one in line ..so on , finally discussing bout the little toddlers & just- born as well. Then , they would talk of how old they would be at these lil kiddo's wedding. How would they look then ? By that time , the one who's just gonna get married will be having 2 kids who too would be at the age of getting married !!

Yes , they discuss that ! They actually do ! I wonder why diamond jewellery has taken a back seat in their conversation ?! They laugh bout our weddings ?! Aren't they kind of swapping away the novelty out of our special moment ? Why don't they just watch the video & pics of their wedding ? They could discuss who-wore-the-best-saree or something like who-had-the-most-beautiful-necklace ? I'd suggest them this.
Or may be not. Because then they might end up talking bout their old friends & through some default linking reach this - "Oh they have a son who's working in Mumbai . How does he look like ? Should we see him for CCC ? [ Some cousin , revealing name isn't important - it could be any of them ]

OK, but they do have hearts. They understand our feelings. So they are not just joking about it but also serious.Look how much they care for us ?? They start finding eligible mates much in advance!
For..
Moi at 18 - "Gonna look for a guy for you."
Moi at 17 - "How old is she ? "
Moi at 16 - "Just few more years to go."
Moi at 15 - "Now , after few years , its her turn after XYZ."
Moi at 14 - " In school now ? Then college & then you'll get married."

They didn't spare me even when I was 14 !! And this isn't something that only I'm facing. All my cousins do.But its quite easier for guys. They can get married anytime they want to. They can even go around with someone in the meanwhile & they don't find it embarrassing when talked bout their wedding! But we girls ?? How can you manage to face your dad after your relative have just talked about your marriage ?? Specially when you are 18. I mean I will have to make myself comfortable with this when I'm at the age to get married. At that time , I'd probably be the one , "Oh hey , look I wanna get married to this guy ." They won't find that embarrassing , will they ??
Some of my cousins , the girls , are habitual to all this.So they've kind of been able to handle such situations. They don't find it weird , for one.And secondly , it has become a part of their daily conversation as well.I'm targeted the most - the one who's told all these stories.Oh my , it cheeses me off !

To all my relatives , and relatives' relatives & so on ...stop it! Will you ? Give us a break ! Look for guys when its the right time.Fine , it takes some time to find the best for us , so you go hunting for grooms when we ask you to .There are major issues apart from our weddings for you to discuss !!
Ah , whatever , talk of anything else dude!

Its time my kins stop playing Cupids because there's a helluva time for us to play couples.

PS : They are not ACTUALLY gonna get me married at 18 :| Its just that they love talking about it again & again & again.....yet again! Only Drawback of being in a Marwari family :(
